Remembering Maddy on her Third Angel Day

MADDY year three-1Three Years: Thoughts from Jackie & Dan

Three.

Three years without seeing your face light up in that scrunch we adore (and always will); without hearing that irresistible little laugh; without the morning hugs and kisses you used to wake your twin sister, Hannah; without the joy of watching the fierce little girl you would be today.

When you first left this earth, it was unbearably hard—yet, in a way, there was a sigh of relief knowing you were no longer in pain. But as the years have passed, the ache of not seeing you grow has only deepened. For every milestone Hannah meets (and exceeds!), we imagine you right beside her. For every start of school, holiday and birthday—we wish you were here. little but fierce

Today marks your third heaven day. Three years ago, you left our world, and as Hannah says, “she dances in the clouds.” We believe that’s true—and we can almost see you giving us your “double wave,” your highest compliment, knowing that we are honoring your life and legacy (and nose scrunches) by lifting others up.

At the Madelyn James Pediatric Cancer Foundation, we do this work for you, and for every baby and family facing cancer:

  • We pay the rent so parents can stay close to their baby in the hospital.
  • We fix cars so families can get to treatment.
  • We build life-long connections so no parent ever feels alone.

Just as you loved zipping around in your little snail car, leading a trail of giggling friends, we hope our community will keep leading the way—driving this movement forward for families in need.

Friend, honor of Maddy on the third anniversary of her passing, it can be hard to ask what you want to do, so, we are kindly ask you to:

  1. On August 13th, at 8:15pm we encourage you to light a candle and remember our Maddy girl
  2. Donate $39 ($13 for each of the three years) to donate to Madelyn James

Screen Shot 2025-08-13 at 2.32.42 PMWe are so grateful for your love, kindness and unwavering support over these past years. Together, we can ensure the families we serve feel that same warmth and care. Let’s keep going—doing this work for Maddy, and for every child facing cancer

Gratefully,
Jackie & Dan & Hannah
