You are Fierce.
In the face of adversity, Maddy never stopped being fierce.
Blood transfusions.
Platelet transfusions.
Chemotherapy.
Immunotherapy.
Surgeries.
Radiation.
PET scans.
MRIs.
Maddy never stopped smiling. What strength she had, while at her lowest she could still smile and rally the entire room. She smiled during all of her treatments and always wore her little bow.
When we were at home, there were two months where we had to administer chemotherapy at home. She would cry, Hannah would cheer her on, and then she went about her day. She got back up after every single wrench thrown in our plan. And, she always surprised us! Each night, she had her daily cocktail of pain medicine and antibiotics to make her feel better and keep her safe. She snuggled more deeply and laughed more loudly each night.
She was fierce and showed us how to live life in the face of adversity. Maddy showed us that you can do anything you set your mind to. When the odds are against you, keep going, keep fighting and never give up.
At Madelyn James, we will always stand side-by-side with families as they fiercely fight for their children, and all children, until we find a cure.
